Minor Protection Policy
Version 1.0 · Effective 2026-05-22
CombatScore takes the safety of minor athletes (under 18) seriously. This policy explains our specific protections.
Account structure
- Minors do not create independent accounts on CombatScore. A parent or legal guardian creates an account and adds child profiles.
- For children under 13, COPPA-compliant verifiable parental consent is required.
- For children 13–17, parent acknowledgment is required. The minor may have their own login linked to the parent account.
Communications
- Direct messaging is disabled for any athlete under 18 on CombatScore.
- When direct messaging becomes available in the future, it will be: parent-visible by default for any minor, automatically reviewed by AI moderation, and subject to immediate action on safety flags.
Artificial Intelligence
- AI features are disabled by default for children under 13.
- AI features for athletes 13–17 require explicit parent opt-in and are reviewed by safety moderation.
- AI conversations involving any minor are visible to the parent.
Photos
- Minor profiles do not display photos by default.
- Photos uploaded by gyms or coaches depicting minors require parent approval before they go live.
Coaches who teach minors
- Coaches whose roster includes minors must verify their identity through our identity verification partner before they can be listed as serving minors.
- Coaches who teach minors must agree to our Coach Code of Conduct.
- Background checks are the responsibility of the gym. CombatScore does NOT perform background checks.
- Coach affiliations with gyms must be confirmed by the gym before becoming publicly visible.
Payments
- Minors cannot authorize payments above $50 without parent re-authorization.
- Membership cancellation by a parent is one-click — no fees, no friction.
Parent visibility
Parents see:
- All activity on their child's account
- All communications involving their child (when messaging exists)
- All AI conversations involving their child
- Login attempts on the child's account
- A weekly digest of their child's platform activity
- Immediate notifications on any safety flag
What parents should still do
- Talk to your child about safe online and gym behavior.
- Verify your gym has its own safety policies and background-check procedures.
- Use resources from organizations like SafeSport, NCMEC, and your local authorities.
- Report concerns immediately.
Reporting concerns
File a safety report. Anonymous reporting available.
For urgent threats to a child's safety, contact local law enforcement immediately.
